Skinburness adjoins the Victorian seaside town of Silloth, still retaining its original cobbled streets and famous for its highly rated Links Golf Course. Braithwaite is a perfect base for walkers with so many walking and climbing opportunities on the doorstep, including Causey Pike, Grizedale Pike and Skiddaw. The Whinlatter Pass and forest rise up from Braithwaite and is particularly popular with mountain bikers as well as walkers. The Whinlatter Visitor Centre is well worth a visit. Braithwaite has a village shop, two good pubs serving excellent food and a restaurant.
