There is a wealth of National Trust properties to visit in the area, which include Felbrigg Hall, Garden and Park (one of the finest Jacobean houses in East Anglia), the beautifully landscaped Sheringham Park and the magnificent Blickling Hall with its woodland and lakeside walks. Horsey Wind Pump is only 3 miles away (and a good destination for a boat trip).

Set in a secluded countryside location but only 2 miles from the lovely market town of Diss, these superb properties (awarded Green Tourism Business Scheme silver award) are ideally placed for family gatherings or larger group holidays.
To make the stay even more relaxing, the owners are able to offer catering and housekeeping options. Each property boasts stunning features including oak timbers, individually decorated rooms, with each bedroom having its own TV and either DVD or video. Outside each property there is a large enclosed decked area with lovely views across the fields, which makes the perfect place for enjoying an al-fresco meal or glass of wine. All properties have large open-plan reception rooms, which create the feeling of space. There is also a large heated indoor swimming pool located in a detached barn within easy walking distance.
For active groups there is karting, the ‘Go Ape’ aerial assault courses, clay pigeon shooting and paintballing locally. For something more relaxing, pamper days can be booked at the Aqua Sana Spa in Elveden Forest or local beauty therapists will make home calls.
Ideally placed for exploring East Anglia; the Suffolk Heritage coast and the North Norfolk coast are easily reached. Ideal for families, Monsters Indoor Playcentre, Banham Zoo and Bressingham Gardens and Steam Museum are minutes away. Further afield, but definitely worth a visit are Dinosaur Adventure Park, Africa Alive, Ickworth House, Park and Gardens (NT) and Wroxham Barns with its shops, children’s fairground and petting farm.
Interesting places include Norwich with its cathedral and castle museum, and Bury St Edmunds - one of the prettiest Georgian towns in Suffolk. Wyken Vineyards has a regular Saturday farmers’ market as well as walks and tours. Further along the coast is Brancaster for an uncrowded sandy beach and golf course. Brancaster Staithe provides a popular venue for sailing and boating enthusiasts. The traditional seaside towns of Heacham and Hunstanton offer an array of activities for all ages. Many places of historical interest and stately homes are within surrounding area. Twenty minutes’ drive away is the historical town of Kings Lynn for shopping, market place, restaurants, inns and theatre, and also Norwich city for excellent shopping, castle museum, cathedral, theatre, market place, restaurants and inns. Centrally located, it is within easy driving distance of Norwich, one of the five largest cities in Norman England. Tucked into a sweeping bend of the River Wensum, the cathedral and castle are amongst the most popular attractions to visit and there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and excellent shopping. Local market towns Fakenham and East Dereham are within easy reach, with shops, inns, restaurants and cinema. There is also ten-pin bowling, a sports centre, indoor swimming-pool, golf and horse racing course. Visit the beautiful Norfolk Broads, where trips can be made along the famous waterways. An alternative way of admiring the Broads is by bicycle, the 56-mile Weavers’ Way winds through the best parts of the Broads on its way from Cromer to Great Yarmouth.
