Situated within landscaped grounds with an unfenced natural wildlife pond, the holiday properties are within walking distance of Holt market place, with its many very attractive buildings and the back streets leading to courtyards with their cafés and plenty of shops to enjoy. The town is served by a unique horse drawn coach service known as ‘The Holt Flyer’ connecting the railway station to the town, which is about three quarters of a mile away, at Kelling. The North Norfolk Railway (the Poppy Line) runs along the Norfolk coast onto Sheringham. Excellent walking enjoyed from the doorstep, with designated footpaths and Holt Lowes Country Park; an area of SSSI and a tranquil setting of almost 100 acres of mature woodland adjoining the heathland and River Glaven with broadrides and way marked walks. One of the routes is designed for ease of use by the less mobile or for families with pushchairs. Interesting features within the park include totem pole, carved stile, play area and viewing tower. Good cycling opportunities from the doorstep. Cley-next-the-Sea and Blakeney quay, 5 miles. Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham for excellent sandy beaches, 12 miles. Accommodation overview: This brick-and-flint, oak-cut, vaulted timber-roofed barn is situated on 200 acres of arable land, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in this unspoilt secret corner of England. Steeped in ancient/modern history, this rare-for-Norfolk undulating countryside has a wealth of architecture and historic sites, along with unusual villages, market towns and the fabulous North Norfolk coastline incorperating such places as Blakeney, Holkham, Morston Quay and many more for the visitor to discover all within easy reach of this Grade II listed building. Bale is a typical rural village in a farming community, noted for the famous Bale Oaks. A mile away on the A148 is the filling station with off licence and mini-market open 7 days a week. 3 miles away is the fascinating village of Binham with the priory ruins, family run pub/restuarant with micro brewery (tours by appointment), a local butchers, and a garage with store full of an array of goods. Wonderful Wells is only 6 miles, a visitors haven, a traditional fishing village with all the usual tourist attractions along with craft shops and art galleries. Hall Farm has been in the family for four generations and the Barn has been beautifully restored by the owner, in 2008, with careful consideration to comfort, design and style. With the hand crafted oak staircase that leads to the vast vaulted ceiling with exposed original oak beams, is the open-plan living/dining-room/farmhouse kitchen area with granite worktops allowing light and brilliant views. Accommodation overview: In a splendid position, within comfortable walking distance of Mundesley’s gently shelving sandy beach, this spacious family house enjoys its own indoor heated swimming pool (available all year round) and an extensive, fenced garden with a large patio area and brick-built barbecue. There are wonderful, panoramic sea views from the first floor living room, as well as from the garden, which extends to within 10 feet of the cliff face. Reached directly from the hall of the house via a glazed door, the magnificent, mosaic-tiled swimming pool has a stepped ‘Roman’ end, and its building also houses a shower room with toilet. The house is located in a prestigious residential area of Mundesley, within easy reach of its shops and inns. Along the coast to the north lie the seaside towns of Cromer, Sheringham, Wells and Blakeney, where there are miles of sandy beaches, excellent launching facilities for dinghies, windsurfing, water-skiing and good fishing. Cromer, famous for its crabs, has two museums, including the Lifeboat Museum at the pier. Sheringham boasts over 700 acres of National Trust parkland, and is also the terminus for the North Norfolk Steam Railway which runs inland to Holt. Wells-next-the-Sea is a working harbour with a busy quay, while Blakeney, with its cobbled streets and picturesque fishermen’s cottages, is popular with small boats. Blakeney Point is a nature reserve for birds and seals. To the south lie the Norfolk Broads, with over 200 miles of navigable rivers and waterways winding between miles of windmill-studded marshland, and passing through many pretty Broadland villages. For those wishing to tour the Broads other than on the water, then there are many cycle rental points throughout the area as well as designated cycle trails.
