The large family kitchen with glazed dining area overlooks the garden and outside patio area, whilst the spacious comfortable living room offers a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings in. The property has the added benefit of a ground floor en-suite bedroom, as well as five further en-suite bedrooms on the first floor. The gardens and barbecue area provide wonderful waterside views. Surrounded by the owners’ farmland, with footpaths, bridleways and cycle routes from the doorstep, Kingfisher Cottage is the perfect country retreat. Another popular pastime in the area is fishing, which is available for guests of the cottage on Chelmarsh Reservoir and also on the River Severn (day permits can be purchased from local fishing tackle shops). Ideally located near to the historic town of Bridgnorth and the Severn Valley railway, with RAF Cosford a short drive away, the cottage makes an ideal base for touring. The Ironbridge Gorge Museum and the hills of the Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge are about 10 miles away, whilst there are many interesting walks from the door as well as numerous picturesque villages waiting to be explored. Accommodation overview: Macs House is a delightful 100 year old, spacious, detached holiday property which has been significantly modernised and extended over the years. Ideal for family holidays, it is situated in a very peaceful and rural position on the Shropshire/Herefordshire border, a quarter of a mile down a farm track, surrounded by rolling fields, and a huge lawned garden, great for children to work off excess energy and perfect for dining al-fresco. This spacious house has four bedrooms in the main house and a further two bedrooms in a separate annexe, together with a games room. Walking is available from the house - indeed the Herefordshire Trail passes a few hundred yards away. In the nearby village of Bromfield, the Food Centre with a range of farm produce is well worth a visit, and just five miles away is the lovely market town of Ludlow, once described by Betjeman as ‘the most perfect town in England’. With its wonderful medieval and Georgian architecture, including a cathedral-sized parish church, ruined castle and local museum, Ludlow has much to offer the visitor including a wide range of places to shop or eat. Stokesay Castle at Craven Arms and Berrington Hall (NT) near Leominster are a short drive away, and both the Ironbridge Gorge and Severn Valley Railway, perfect for family days out, are within easy reach. The quirky town of Bishop’s Castle with its House on Crutches and variety of small shops tumbling down the high street is well worth a visit, as is Bridgnorth on the River Severn and the city of Hereford with its fascinating cathedral. Wenlock Edge the Stretton Hills the historic town of Shrewsbury and the fascinating museums at Ironbridge Gorge are all easily accessible. Fishing and riding are available locally and golf at Ludlow.
