Accommodation overview: On one of the most spectacular stretches of Northumberland Heritage coast these six individually designed cottages enjoy an idyllic location on a working farm only yards from Beadnell Bay's wonderful long sandy beach backed by National Trust sand dunes. Perfect for walkers bird watchers and families (all children under 12 receive a free bucket and spade!) each cottage has its own unique character and all of them offer spacious well appointed interiors and their own garden as well as shared enjoyment of a well equipped children's play area. And the farm which sits at the end of a lane half a mile from the village of Newton-by-the-Sea boasts a collection of peacocks and ornamental pheasants. Wonderful coastal walking starts at the door north to the fishing village of Beadnell and south to Low Newton's glorious sandy beach and stunning views of Dunstanburgh Castle and through to Craster a pretty harbour village famous for its much sought after kippers. Nature lovers will delight in the area's variety of native and migrating birds and grey seals and sea otters are often spotted along the coast. There are numerous places to visit along the coastline including magnificent Bamburgh Castle Holy Island and Seahouses (6 miles) for boat trips to the Farne Islands to see the famous colonies of puffins and seals. Just 7 miles inland lie the market town of Alnwick and its fairytale castle; the internationally celebrated gardens offer something for everyone such as stunning water features a giant tree house with its own restaurant and fabulous ornamental planting. The Northumberland National Park's thousands of acres of unspoilt heather moorlands ancient woodland and rolling Cheviot hills are easily accessible as are Berwick upon Tweed and the Scottish Borders. Golf horse riding sailing and fishing are all available nearby. Village pub serving food ½ mile shop and post office 2½ miles.

Accommodation overview: Tucked away in their own picturesque valley, this imposing stone farmhouse (Baysdale Abbey Ref IHH) and three Grade II listed holiday properties (Kildale Barn Ref ISA, Ingleby Barn Ref ISB and Westerdale Barn Ref ISC) lie on the site of a 12th-century Cistercian Abbey in an idyllic setting, where endless footpaths radiate from the door. Renovated in 2009, and accessed by a 2-mile drive, they are set on a working farm where sheep and cattle graze (farm machinery – children must be supervised) within the glorious North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Thoughtfully restored, Baysdale Abbey (Ref IHH) has been furnished and equipped to a very high standard and can accommodate a large group of people. All rooms are spacious, light and airy, with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. Original wooden floors on the ground level blend with shuttered windows, cornices add decorative touches and open fires in the reception rooms provide a welcoming atmosphere. Vaulted beamed ceilings and wood-burning stoves add to the charm and character providing a welcoming atmosphere. The properties are surrounded by large natural gardens and edged by the trickling waters of the beck (fenced). Offering 3 miles of sandy beaches is the historic port of Whitby renowned for its connections with Captain James Cook and its picturesque harbour and cobbled streets. Here you can board the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Train (Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter films) and take a memorable journey through the stunning Esk Valley. Heritage homes, halls and castles abound in this area with Castle Howard, the setting of Brideshead Revisited, Nunnington Hall, Duncombe Park and Rievaulx Abbey being just a few of the treasures awaiting discovery.
