Accommodation overview: An absolute must-have holiday for those larger families of all ages wanting a real experience of living on a farm. This traditional spacious farmhouse is set right in the heart of a working farm with 190 acres of land with sheep and cattle grazing in the fields surrounding the farmhouse. There is an opportunity, depending on the season, to join in on this farm and feed the lambs, collect the eggs, watch the sheep shearing, pick fruit and vegetables and identify nature all around. The farmhouse is supplied with its own private spring water. Previous visitors have thoroughly enjoyed the farm life and country living – and many an evening picnic has been had sitting on top of the hill overlooking the farmhouse. This is a delightful house for families of all ages, at any time of year. It is spacious and well-equipped with a large living room made cosy by the wood burner and a traditional large kitchen complete with large table for everyone to sit around and talk together. The conservatory is another delightful room with views across the fields. There is a four-poster bed in one of the bedrooms, which opens out into an outside sitting area. The farm itself is near Totnes, midway between the wild open spaces of Dartmoor and the lovely South Devon coastline scattered with hidden coves and sandy beaches. A walk across the fields leads to the local shop which stocks a huge range of locally produced foods, and there is a pub and post office in the same village. There really is a little bit of everything in this area – always somewhere to go or something to do. A day on the beach can be spent at Slapton or Beesands, or visits made to the maritime town of Dartmouth. Totnes is a vibrant, fun town, especially on a Friday when it is market day. A drive up on to Dartmoor reveals rugged windswept moorland with high tors and low valleys, where ponies run free. Salcombe makes for a good day out, watching the yachts sailing in and out of the estuary, whilst further afield are the larger cities of Exeter and Plymouth (which has a spectacular waterfront and is steeped in history). Shop 1 mile. Spacious living room with wood-burning stove in inglenook fireplace, exposed stone walls and door to garden. Spacious well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen/dining room with double-oven electric range. Stairs to mezzanine garden room with doors to patio.
