The outstanding wildlife includes red and roe deer, buzzards and golden eagles and the superb outdoor activities incorporate fishing, sailing, walking, golf, cycling and birdwatching. Day trips can include the Isle of Bute, Dunoon, Inveraray and Tarbet a pretty fishing village via the Portavadie Marina and excellent restaurant .

The cottage is a short stroll from the village and the area boasts many restaurants where you can enjoy the 'catch of the day'. Sailing is a particularly popular sport on the sheltered waters of the Kyles of Bute and there is a local 9-hole golf course. Visitors can enjoy wonderful scenic walks, cycle the famous 'Cowal Way' or try river and loch fishing. Day trips to Inveraray, Dunoon and the Isle of Bute are popular and make for a good day out. The nearby marina at Portavadie boasts a fine restaurant overlooking the yachts and a short ferry crossing from here leads to Tarbert, which is a pretty fishing village on the Mull of Kintrye and a magnet for tourists and "yachties".

Accommodation overview: Loch Riddon House is an impressive detached property set on the hillside overlooking Loch Riddon on the Cowal Peninsula. The main living space on the ground floor is open plan with oak floors. The large, spacious lounge area is the heart to this property, a place for everyone to gather. With a wonderful open fire and a stunning floor to ceiling feature window, this provides the ideal location to relax and enjoy the view, perhaps even see birds of prey soaring high in the sky or red deer wandering through the garden. At one end of the lounge is a reading room and at the opposite end is the dining room, both have glazed double doors which can be closed, if required. These rooms all have a stunning south facing aspect looking out over the countryside to Loch Riddon and the hills beyond. Off the dining room is a fully fitted, well equipped kitchen which has a large range cooker and a belfast sink. From the first floor, most of the bedrooms have views over the sea loch. This property has lots of space for all the family to spread out and enjoy their holiday. Accommodation overview: Set next to a walled garden of 1.5 acres, this delightful traditional stone-built cottage was originally built to house the gardener for the 1000 acre estate surrounding a large Victorian mansion but has now been extended and extensively renovated to create a warm, elegant home in the country house style. Accessed by 1/2 mile of private road from the main West Coast route south of Oban (4 miles away), this is an ideal peaceful location yet within easy reach of many activities and places of interest. Oban offers trips to the islands, a distillery, cinema and sports centre as well as extensive shopping. Sailing, diving, horse-riding, water sports, golf and tennis can all be arranged. Guests staying at Glenfeochan enjoy free fishing for sea trout, brownies and possibly even a salmon on the River Nell. Loch fishing can also be arranged. Shops 4 miles. Good choice of restaurants in the area. This charming cottage has its own pretty enclosed garden with barbecue and teak furniture, and guests may also use a picnic site (with pinic table) on the top of the hill behind the cottage with superb views over the valley. There is a ramp access and the spacious ground floor rooms have wide doorways. The interior design is very tasteful with comfortable furnishings and some lovely period furniture.
