Alston is often described as "in the middle of nowhere, but central for everywhere" lying high up in the north Pennine hills on the borders of Cumbria, County Durham and Northumbria within easy reach of the Lake District, Hadrians Wall and the historic cities of Carlisle and Durham. All three properties are luxuriously appointed to appeal to the most discerning customers and the experience of staying here is quite unique.The hotel facilities are available to guests staying in the cottages, including free Wi-Fi, a first class restaurant, bar and lovely grounds. Situated at Nenthead in the North Pennine Hills, 4 miles from Alston, this 17th century detached cottage is full of original features including, beams and open fire. The village has a pub, restaurant, shop and visitor centre at Nenthead mines. Alston is the highest market town in England, with steep cobbled streets and an interesting variety of shops and galleries. This is a panoramic landscape of fells, moors, ravines, valleys, mountains,rivers and waterfalls ( the highest waterfall in England is High Force approximately 10 miles away). Crisscrossed with bridleways, ancient tracks, Englands highest footpath, the Pennine Way and the C2C cycle route, the area is ideal for walking, cycling, pot holing and pony trekking.
