For stately homes and stunning scenery visit Ilam Park Estate, Sudbury Hall, Tissington and Chatsworth. The Churnet Valley Railway is also close by. There is a 'Seasonal' pub (open March - November) just 200 yards away and shops and pubs 1 mile. Visitors are welcome on neighbouring farm.

Accommodation overview: This attractive barn has been thoughtfully converted retaining many beams and is situated in the grounds of the owner’s home in the delightful rural hamlet of Alton, just 7 miles from Matlock. Featured as one of the doctors’ houses in Peak Practice, this makes an excellent base for visiting all the Peak District has to offer, with Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall close at hand, as well as Crich Tram Village and Hardwick Hall. The renowned show caves at Castleton are an easy drive, whilst Carsington Water for fly fishing and water sports is within 15 miles. Chesterfield with its crooked church spire is just 6 miles. There is excellent walking from the door and the area boasts stunning countryside. Shop 1 mile. Stone steps down to entrance. Kitchen/dining room with flagstone floor.
