The coastline abounds with glorious unspoilt beaches and both sea fishing and seal spotting boat trips depart from the harbour at Dunbar. Home to Concorde and many other aircraft the Museum of Flight (9 miles) is well worth exploring and at the Seabird Centre at North Berwick visitors can watch the puffins nesting on Bass Rock or gannets diving into the sea. Musselburgh Racecourse (24 miles) offers a great day out and horse riding tennis cycle hire and an indoor swimming pool are all found in and around Dunbar (1 mile) which also offers a selection of shops pubs and restaurants as well as a station for the 20 minute train journey to the centre of beautiful Edinburgh city.

Accommodation overview: The village of Belhaven, on the outskirts of the Royal Burgh of Dunbar, provides a peaceful retreat with lovely countryside and sea shore walks. This is one of the 3 areas in Scotland renowned for the longest hours of sunshine and the lowest rainfall. The lovely sandy beach of Belhaven Bay is within 100 yards and leads to the John Muir Country Park, a conserved wildlife habitat with extensive woodland walks. Dunbar has a lovely swimming/leisure pool and 2 golf courses.
This traditional sandstone cottage has been completely modernised and an architect designed extension provides spacious and light living areas. There is an attractive enclosed garden with garden furniture and barbecue. From the original cottage, steps lead down into the large kitchen with an attractive dining area and patio doors out to the garden. A timber stair leads up from the dining area to a gallery with coombed ceiling and lovely views to the sea and Bass Rock.
Edinburgh is only 20 minutes by train or 40 minutes by car. Nearest shop 1/2 mile with main shops in Dunbar.
