Overlooking open countryside to the rear, Pound Cottage has its own large, well screened garden and terrace - ideal for barbecues - as well as an enclosed kitchen garden. Situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Kirdford, it is less than five minutes’ walk to the popular pubs, serving good food. The property has nearby access to an extensive network of footpaths, leading to this unspoilt part of the low weald, a haven for birds and wildlife. The quaint town of Petworth is 4 miles away, with its plentiful antique shops, beautiful stately home and Capability Brown park, where live music concerts and outdoor theatre can be enjoyed during the summer months. The charming small town of Midhurst, famous for Polo at Cowdray Park is also a short drive, as are Billingshurst, Haslemere and Guildford. Goodwood, with its motor and horse racing, Fontwell races, Leonardslee, West Dean Gardens, Parham House, The Weald and Downbland open air museum and the South Downs are all within easy driving distance. Chichester has an ancient cathedral, tea rooms, extensive shopping, festival theatre and harbour tours, or alternatively Arundel also has a castle and Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. Accommodation overview: In a tranquil setting and surrounded by open countryside and woodland, this secluded detached Victorian house enjoys delightful views over a lake and pastureland. Ideal as a holiday home for an extended family (or two families holidaying together), there is much to see and do in this scenic area of Sussex. The house has a sunny south facing terrace and substantial garden. In addition guests will enjoy the use of 15 acres of secluded bluebell woods and pasture leading to a 1-acre lake. Nearer the house there is a smaller lake in a woodland setting where coarse fishing is available. The pretty village of Kirdford has a shop, pub and restaurant and there are numerous country pubs in local villages. The quaint town of Petworth (4 miles) is famous for its stately home, Capability Brown park and antique shops. The charming small town of Midhurst as well as Billingshurst and Haslemere are all within 20 minutes’ drive and have good restaurants and more extensive shopping. Motor racing and horse racing are nearby at Goodwood. Leornardslee and West Dean Gardens, Parham House, the Weald and Downland museum and the South Downs themselves are all close.
