Accommodation overview: With its superb country and sea views, Ridge House is a unique detached holiday property set in a quiet country lane yet close to the English Riviera, Torbay, Dartmoor National Park, the market towns of Newton Abbot and Totnes and the quaint harbours of Shaldon and Brixham. Whether guests wish to relax in peace and quiet, step out on beautiful country walks, enjoy the lively environment of Torbay or entertain on that special occasion, Ridge House can provide it all. The sun-trap terrace has a hot tub seating 8, and there is a large enclosed garden which is ideal for children and pets (supervision required near the pond). The front garden, with table and chairs, is perfect for enjoying a quiet cup of coffee in the early morning sun. There is parking for numerous cars in the grounds. The conservatory overlooks the garden and beautiful Rocombe valley. The games room has a pool table, Nintendo Wii Fit with fitboard, table football, karaoke machine and dart board; there is a wi-fi computer with printer in the study.
Numerous outdoor pursuits in the area include mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling, caving, horse riding, sailing, fishing and canoeing. There are seven beaches close by and Torquay Golf Course is only 2 miles away. Dartmoor National Park has a wealth of beautiful scenery, walks and country pubs. Torquay boasts all the amenities of a seaside resort and the world famous Paignton Zoo is worth a visit. Teignmouth, Preston and Paignton have some lovely sandy beaches, and seaside piers. The local villages of Stokeinteignhead and Maidencombe both have delightful village pubs with excellent food. For discerning diners there is an award-winning restaurant nearby. Shop and pub 1 mile. Accommodation overview: Situated just 750m from the South West Coastal Path, this property offers lovely views of the sea and moor. The property is a spacious detached house which has been completely renovated to a very high standard, offering spacious accommodation. There is a lovely garden, ideal for al-fresco dining. It has its own orchard and a small woodland area. The well appointed living room commands views across the bay, and there is a garage/workshop with pool table. Beautiful French wood-burning stoves are provided for those colder evenings, making this a very warm and cosy property. The house is situated in a wonderful location for a beach holiday, walking holiday or friends to get together. There is a ‘locals’ beach just 1 mile from the property, ideal for all ages. There are good pubs and highly recommended restaurants not too far from the property. There is an RSPB nature reserve at nearby Labrador Bay (½ mile). Shaldon, with its own zoo and sandy beach, is 2 miles from the property. Torquay has much to offer, including Kent’s Cavern and the Model Village. The Living Coasts have penguins wandering freely, or take a boat trip across to Brixham for a lovely day out. Further along the coast is Paignton with its world famous zoo, sandy beaches, water park and steam train to the historic naval town of Dartmouth. There are many NT properties to visit in the area, such as Agatha Christie’s Greenway home. Exeter with its cathedral is magnificent and well worth a visit, take in the shops or wander down to the canal and take a boat up to the pubs that cannot be reached by car, or for the more energetic, hire a bike and cycle the route instead. For children there is Crealy Adventure Park which is a great day out. For walkers who want to walk the Jurassic Coast, this is a great base as Sidmouth is just 28 miles away. Take in Seaton, Beer, Lyme Regis and Branscombe. Shops 3 miles, pub 1 mile. Spacious living room with wood-burning stove and wooden floor. Large dining room with wood-burning stove and wooden floor.
