Accommodation overview: This outstanding, detached, single-storey barn conversion is situated in the courtyard alongside the Grade II listed mill house, and is set in 3½ acres of grounds. Completed in 2007, from the outside The Heronry looks like a barn in keeping with the surrounding buildings. The interior is spacious and contemporary with porcelain tiled floors throughout and stunning floor-to-ceiling windows along the rear of the building, creating a light and bright huge space. Running alongside the rear of the property and viewed from the massive windows, is Carwinley Beck which is regularly visited by its heron. This funky property is very special and those wishing to relax in superb surroundings will not be disappointed and great care and attention to detail has been taken to provide a welcoming holiday experience. The area immediately in front of The Heronry is paved and provides a pleasant outdoor dining area. Guests are free to wander round the grounds and enjoy the large mill pond, enclosed scented garden, fish pond and stream with numerous decked and sitting areas for relaxing. It is also ideally positioned for touring and exploring the exciting surrounding areas which are full of history, beautiful scenery and have much to please the outdoor enthusiast. There is northern Cumbria, its lakes and fells and numerous market towns; southern Scotland including the world famous Gretna Green (8 miles); Hadrian’s Wall and Northumberland all within a short drive. City of Carlisle 9 miles. Shops and pubs 3½ miles.
