Originally built in the 17th-century, and once a farm worker’s cottage, it has been restored to a high standard. The River Rother, a popular fishing and bird-watching spot, is a walk across the fields. An unpaved road leads first to the farmyard and then into the village with its pubs and locally renowned supermarket. The Cinque Ports of Rye (4 miles), and Tenterden, a traditional market town (10 miles), the coast at Camber Sands, Sissinghurst, Bateman’s, Great Dixter Gardens and Bodiam Castle are all accessible.
