Accommodation overview: Rocombe Thatch is a delightful, detached, thatched stone and cob holiday cottage in the hamlet of Middle Rocombe, together with a detached green oak annexe. The cottage has a secluded, mature, enclosed, lawned garden. There is also a fenced pond area and a stream. This is an ideal base for families to holiday together or friends to celebrate. The annexe offers its own living area and kitchen, although there is plenty of space in the main house to have meals and social gatherings for all guests. The property is in a very tranquil setting and is an ideal location to relax. There is plenty of wildlife in the garden with the occasional deer visiting, plenty of bird watching and many walks can be taken from the door. Carp ponds near to the property, run by NAAS with permits available locally. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the wonderful beaches of the South Hams in a secluded rural spot. Nearby Stoke-in-Teignhead is a delightful village, and Torquay is only 5 miles away. There are many golf courses and for those who enjoy riding and walking, Dartmoor is within 10 miles. There are 22 miles of coastline, cliffs, coves, beaches and walks, with a climate that belongs somewhere much further south. There are opportunities for surfing, swimming, diving, sailing, angling and wonderful opportunities to study the natural wildlife at leisure. From the nearby coastline, stunning views are to be enjoyed across the bay, out over the English Channel, along the 40 miles of Lyme Bay to Portland Bill. Torquay is an ideal base from which to visit Dartmouth, Totnes and Plymouth. Dawlish Warren or Paignton Zoo are only 10 miles, or take a trip further afield to Exeter, the ideal place to browse in antique shops, walk and cycle, take a relaxing boat trip or find something good to eat.
