From Truro a boat trip can be taken to St Mawes, Falmouth or the Helford river to explore Daphne du Maurier’s Frenchman’s Creek. Falmouth is nearby with a choice of sandy beaches and excellent sailing. The National Maritime Museum and Pendennis Castle are popular attractions together with the multitude of gardens open to the public. Trelissick Gardens is at the head of the Fal estuary with sweeping panoramic views and woodland walks along the river amidst the surrounding parkland.
