Located in West Cork between Sheep's Head and the Beara Peninsula, the town of Bantry boasts sweeping sea views and varied colourful buildings. Home to a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, this is an ideal place for dining out and experiencing local Irish music and culture. Set in an elevated position above the town, Bantry House is home to a rich collection of tapestries, furniture and art, all open to the public. The house also boasts beautiful gardens to explore, whilst just a short boat ride from the town, in the heart of Bantry Bay, visitors will find Whiddy Island and Garinish Island. Garinish Island became an exotic garden in the early 20th Century and is now home to a variety of plant species which thrive in the warm, moist climate and peaty soils. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, there are many golfing, sailing, scuba diving, walking and cycling facilities nearby.
